Video for Ages Stages and Phases

The following is a video that teaches the first two lessons from the book Divine Design for Discipleship. The video is taught by Pastor Craig Mosgrove. Pastor Craig is a graduate from Lee University and use to work at Free Chapel in Gainesville Ga, under Pastor Jentezen Franklin and Pastor Chad Craig, the author of this book. He is now currently the youth pastor at the Cleveland Tn Church of God and is the director of Disciples Making Disciples. Pastor Craig is an amazing and passionate preacher and teacher.

Ages, Stages, and Phases

The first chapter of this book is titled "Ages, Stages, and Phases". This chapter is basically an introduction to discipleship and God's blueprint for every believer's life.  To begin with this chapter talks about the three ages that a believer lives in and each of these ages coorespond to a pair of elementary teachings.

The first age is the believer lives under the rule of Satan, sin, and death and the pair of elementary teachings that coorespond with this age are repentance and faith in God.With repentance and faith in God it delivers the person out of this age into the second age which is the age where the believer is now under the rule of Jesus Christ but still lives in this world which is ruled by Satan. This age cooresponds to the two elementary teachings of baptisms and laying on of hands.

The third age is the age yet to come which is the age of Christ's return and Millenial Reign and this third age corresponds to the pair of elementary teachings of the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgement. This can all be summed up as how we are to exit out of Satan's Kingdom and enter the Kingdom of God, what life is once the believer is in the kingdom, and the things to come, Jesus's Return, millenial reign, judgement of all and of the believers faithfulness to the kingdom of God.

The next section in this chapter talks about our stages as believers. These stages are babe, child, young man or  young woman, and father or mother. In these stages you as a believer need to get the spiritual diet required for that particular stage so that you can grow mature in faith, however you dont give a baby meat nor an adult milk.

The last two sections in this chapter deals with the spiritual phases in a disciples life and the primary methods. The spiritual phases are God's blueprint for discipleship and these phases are: foundation, transformation, formation, impartation, and multiplication. Each of these phases deal with one of three components of our makeup; spirit, soul, and body. The foundation phase deals with the spirit, the transformation and formation with the soul which consists of mind, will, and emotions effecting our character and behavior and the impartation and multiplication deals with the body.

Lastly the primary methods or four "M"'s are  the primary factors that help the believers spiritual development. These are: Ministry of the Word, My Role, Modeling Community, and Mentoring.

Beginning the study of Design Design for Discipleship

Over the next month or so I will be doing a study of the book Divine Design for Discipleship by Chad M. Craig. I am going to be going through this book because of my desire to learn more about the Lord, to grow closer to Him, and to become a better disciple of Jesus Christ.

The book Divine Design for Discipleship is the book that they use in the discipleship classes at Free Chapel Gainesville and Free Chapel OC. Chad Craig is the author of this book and he is the Director of Discipleship at Free Chapel Gainesville. A little more about him taken from his website: "Chad Craig is a pursuer of God’s presence and plan, a husband to his wife Michelle, and a father to their children. Chad has served as the Pastor of Discipleship Ministries for Free Chapel located in Gainesville, Georgia for many years. Chad has earned a degree in Pastoral Ministries from Toccoa Falls College. Chad currently is the lead pastor of Dwelling Place Church a new church plant in the Woodstock area of Georgia as well as continuing his role of oversight at Free Chapel. Chad’s focus in ministry is discipleship, leadership, and church planting."

Divine Design for Discipleship in my opinion is a book that lays down the foundation for growth in discipleship and would be complementary to the Bible as a handbook in growth and understanding toward being a mature follower/disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The following text is taken from the back of the book : "Do you desire to reach your potential in Christ? Have you asked the question, 'What's next for me, God?' This book will provide you with the spiritual understanding you need in order to propel you forward in your walk with Christ. It will empower you to navigate successfully through the phases of spiritual development that God has designed for your life. It will speak prophetically to what God desires to accomplish in your life! For new believers, the book will present the right spiritual diet in order for you to develop properly. For those believers who find themselves lost, weary, distracted and confused on their spiritual journey, the book offers direction to get you back on course. And for mature believers, church leaders, and pastors, you will find relevant teachings that can be used to speak to the issues facing the believers you nurture. This book addresses: . The phases of spiritual development designed by God . Provides the relevant teachings (vision) for each phase . The purpose for the season you find yourself in . How each phase is connected to the spirit, soul and body of the believer . Holistic discipleship . The primary factors that facilitate spiritual growth . How to reach maturity in Christ"

I hope that you will follow me along through my study of this book and maybe even purchase the book yourself and comment and contribute to this blog.
God Bless and Thanks.
